J. Faddis tp & flh, D. Hazeltine p, P. Washington b, C. Penn ds, G. Young as & ft, L. Feldman as & ft, D. Kleps as & ft, P. D`Rivera ss & ts & cl, B. Easley ts & cl, R. Rosenberg bs & bcl & bassoon, K. Hitchcock bs & bcl, J. Clark frh, S. Rose frh, J. Pugh atb & ttb & euphonium, B. Tindall oboe & eh, Chesky 1997. One of the ten tracks, Johnny Bug, is a Faddis original, the others are more or less known jazz compositions. From Ellington`s Sophisticated Lady to Gordon Jenkin`s Goodbye. The small big band line-up is varying throughout the record and the interpretations are gentle, slow or mid tempo, not spectacular but very intensive, deeply emotional, not smooth jazz or easy listening. Music that is capturing you for an over 67 minutes close listening session. The sound is perfect, rich of colour, very good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, very dynamic, brilliant.
