Marvin Gaye: Let's Get It On Blu Ray 5.1 and stereo.
Brilliant reissue.
Quick Facts: The 13th studio album released in 1973. This disc released, April 2015.
Performance: Every tune is wonderful. This is a soul music masterpiece with the full accompaniment of strings, horns, and R&B band. An intimate performance of music between man and woman. Sex, leaving and coming together is the theme of this great disc.
Stereo Sonics: I listened at 71 decibels, PCM 192KHZ. This is a no brainier for people without a multichannel set up. The stereo resolution is higher in stereo and is ALMOST a preferred way of listening. If I was to have a friend over I would not bother with the multichannel. Sound is deep, clear, and wide, fills entire room and all instruments resonate very well. There are also little masterpiece tidbits that I am sure have not been heard before. Definitely if you want to turn it up and walk away, the stereo would be preferred.
Multichannel Sonics: I listened at 71.5 decibels, DTS-HD Master, 96KHZ. The lower resolution does not take away as now we are listening via 5.1 and the sound comes at you more powerful. The mix is very well balanced, no gimmicks. The mix is even, with Marvin always center. The really noticeable part to the remix is how they positioned the background vocals, moving ever so discreetly between speakers, absolutely wonderful. As with the stereo all the music is nice and clear. The experience I had at the same decibel level as stereo was the mch appears to be much louder at same level.
Menu: Was incredibly slow and irritating. It is not my player as I immediately popped in another HFPA and did not have the same problem. It is not enough for me to return but irritating none the less. There are 8 music tracks, 3 choices for audio, gallery of photos, an interview with Ed Townsend, now deceased, from 2003 that is audio only in 48Khz, rough and scratchy.
Packaging: Typical HFPA plastic packaging. Mini paper booklet with good liner notes including Blu Ray notes.
This, my second HFPA Marvin Gaye recording and is a must for my collection.
