Performance:   Sonics:
PENTATONE'S REMASTERED CLASSICS continues with Beethoven's Third and Fifth Piano Concertos. The soloist is here Christopher Eschenbach which felt quite strange - at least for me. Eschenbach is today the famous conductor - I have for example his recordings for Ondine.
By the way these interpretations were traditional. The disc started with Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto - which is often called "Emperor". The performance was recorded at the Boston Symphony Hall which acoustics was idiomatic for surround sound recordings. Eschenbach was in his element in the slow movements. The "Emperor" Concerto's second movement was lovely! Third Concerto is my own favorite and here it was very good.
PENTATONE'S remastering was outstanding - again! Polyhymnia's engineering team has done very impressive work with the original 4-channel tapes; the sound is clear, surrounding and realistic. Highly recommend for all classical music lovers!
