Of all the mahlers I have, this is one of the best sounding performances. The mch mix is absolutely excellent, one of the best sounding symphonic performances I have heard to this day. I also like the performance itself. |

I am no specialist of mahler's work. It is therefore difficult for me to express a clear judgment on Abbado's interpretation, especially compared to the other reviewers. Sound quality is nice. mc mix is a 4.0 but it doesn't add anything special, so call it a good stereo recording with a "multichannel" label to improve sales (I have heard better things from Chesky). If you like flute or at least don't hate it and if you are not allergic to bossa nova you should enjoy ... more |

This Jazz album introduced me to McCoy Tyner. I now own a number others including both sacds and rbcds. He is one of of my favourite jazz pianists. Great performance as mentioned by the site review. The sound is extremely detailed, the best there is, soundwise. As mentioned also by the other reviewer, the mikes are very close to the artist and one can hear two instruments: the cello and the cellist, and that is the main drawback for me. The ... more |
