I can't speak for the sonics, which, judging by previous releases on Tudor, must be quite good. The performance is superb, as all Grumiaux. The sonics are a bit disappointment, as the mixing sounds a bit artificial. This was an original quadraphonic recording and the violin sounds way to loud in comparison to the orchestra. It is still worth the money.

Grammy Award winner? Give me a break. Grammy adjudicators need a good box of Q-tips. This is NOT the greatest performance of Verdi's Requiem, either from the performance or the recording point of view. The tenor, MArio Zeffiri, manages to get a few pitches out of tune. What a marvel. This CD sounds so good, it's hard to believe it was done in the 1950s. The recording of La Mer has so much energy, and the audio quality is incredibly clear.
