I think this is a fabulous performance and a fabulous SACD, recorded live at the Royal Festival Hall in May 2005, with a stellar cast including baritone Gerald Finley. Unfortunately, I don't feel that this SACD really performs on any level.
Short version: I find the performances to be uninspired, with poor ensemble work, and the sound is distant rather than crisp. Not recommended.

I normally prefer to purchase SACDs recorded post-2000 in hi-rez. This is a 1958 recording, converted from the original analog tapes to SACD. As other reviews have noted, this is the world premiere recording of the Passion Cantata 'Ein Lämmlein geht und trägt die Schuld' by Gottfried August Homilius of Saxony (1714-1785).
This is the first I have heard of Herr Homilius, and a splendid and delightful find it is too.
