Having just received this disc I was quite disappointed with a first spinning. The two symphonies were recorded in different locations by different recording teams some 4 years apart and it certainly shows. The later recording of the 3rd shows a much more controlled and measured approach to Brahms ... more

Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Superlative playing, inspirational in it's subtlety of colours and nuances, cellos are achingly beautiful. Excellent conducting, sensual, finely articulated, precise, flawless. Truly class-leading recording. The best of any Exton that I've heard and a fine testament to DSD. ... more
