I just came across flytomars' review - very interesting, thanks for your comments. I have the Japanese SACD version and have never noticed this noise at 15kHz that you mention. OK, this is going to be the LAST time I buy a CD based on reviews on SA-CD.net. Of the Beethoven 7's, I have the Kleiber, Klemperer, Abbado, Karajan, Bohm, Harnoncourt, and Walter. I left this CD at a friend's place. I could not do without it for the few weeks it would take for him to return it, so I bought another copy.

Well I disagree with the above review. I have Cantate Domino on LP, CD, and now SACD. The CD layer on the SACD sounds the same or maybe slightly better than the CD only version.

This is another Pentatone reissure of a classic disc. The transfer is first rate - on my system I can hear no obvious faults with this SACD. It is not up to the standard of an audiophile demonstration disc - the imaging is a little bit too woolly for that - but this is only a very minor criticism. ... more |
