My opinions of the music and performances on this disc certainly mirror Caster's, and I thank you, sir (?), for writing them, because they caused me to buy this disc.
GORGEOUS music! Who'da'thunk a Brahms string quartet could sound like this? Not me.

VERY nice! Strongly played, GREAT orchestral playing, and great MC sound. This is rather the opposite of the unemotionally played, somewhat speedy--some would say RUSHED--Jarvi/Gottenberg performance on BIS.
Highly recommended by this Unabashed Romantic, as is Kitakenko's 'Manfred'. |

I've been looking for a great-sounding and strongly played Tchaik. 6 this summer; this isn't it. The MC sound is OK, altho the hall sounds a little small to me.

This Unabashed Romantic Classical Lover has always liked 'Ma Vlast', but it's never been one of my Faves...until now. I guess I've never heard a recording/performance that 'grabbed' me...until now. I too was looking forward to Nielsen symphonies in wonderful multichannel sound. Unfortunately, these don't meet that definition. Jonalogic is so correct.
