I don't think we praise enough, or at all, the outstanding quality of the Sony recordings. Even in the digital PCM recording era, I often realise how good many of the Sony recordings were.

I'm sorry to have to disagree with everything said above, but this recording is a third rate performance. No serious baroque specialist could possibly appreciate it, these people have the only merits to play well as an ensemble, basically in tune, and technically corrrect on baroque ... more |

It's a strange feeling to be the first to write a review for a recording, I feel honoured and yet in this case I would hope more people knew about it.
This was one of my very first SACDs, and also one of the very few that really convinced me of the outstanding quality of SACD.

If I try to be objective, I might have to admit that they did a great and serious job here. High level playing.
But I still get bored. Trying to figure out why, it didn't take me long to notice that you basically could turn on your metronome throughout the performance and they would still play with ... more |
