Side one is good, side two falls off a bit, and all the other songs on this album are overshadowed by (you guessed it) track 3, which needs no introduction. The 5.1 mix of "Reaper" is lovely indeed.

My first & favorite Miles Davis album, this is great for driving. Too bad Sony or Philips isn't curently developing any SACD surround car systems at the moment.

I agree with Tom, & can add that the sonics are waaaaay better than the CD, which was thin and harsh-sounding. All the cuts here are standouts, with the exception of the strangely-mixed "Sad Eyed Lady" where one acoustic guitar starts out being panned in the center of the stereo mix and pops up from ... more |

I have to disagree with rinkrat on this one: it takes a few listens for the songs to hook you. The surround mix is fantastic, it just sweeps you away, especially on "Slow Burn", "I Would Be Your Slave" and the title track.
