I was lucky enough to find an original LP of this famous Mercury in decent shape years ago, and the sound was very good indeed. The CD from the 1990's was a delight, as is this SACD. Another Shaded Dog that gets lots of breathless panting on ebay. The sound on this 3-channel SACD is noticeably better than on the original RCA Living Stereo CD. This version of "The Firebird" is the one to have...I was lucky enough to find the original vinyl in a junk store years ago and for once I was smart enough to hold onto it. Once again we have two different pieces recorded with two different technologies. The Beethoven has never been a favorite of mine; I find myself "wandering" when I listen to it.
