I never thought I would be writing comments on an opera recording! Especially an opera whose music, while utterly transporting and at times, chillingly explosive, is set to a plot that is both macabre and even psychopathic. The Philip's SACD Surround Sound Reference Disc is a *must have* tool, in my opinion, along with a sound pressure level meter, for setting up a SACD multi-channel system. Otherwise I believe set up of a SACD multi-channel system is a crap shoot with only a smidgen of a chance of getting your system ... more |

I found the multi-channel version of Kind of Blue to be superior to the two channel version. BUT not *necessarily* or only because of multi-channel. It just seems to be better mastered overall.
