I actually wanted to write a story similar to the one 'Big Tony' did. All he states is so very, very true. I own Selling England on cd as well as on vinyl. Although I partly agree with the other review and I believe 'Motown Two' is the better sounding album I would like to give some more points for the sonics. Yes it's not as smooth as could be and indeed is over produced. But it's still a great sacd mix. |

For me this is one of the best sounding sacds out there. I don't want to judge the artistic point of view, although I realy dig the music, but just the sonics of it. This is an incredible recording mixing Rays voice, recorded some 30 or so years ago, with new recorded music from the Count Basie big band. Outstanding sonics and a very well mixed surround sound. Although this entire recording has been created in a studio it sounds as if it was intended this way. ... more |
