I love both of these pieces and have them both on redbook cds (is that the correct terminology?), the Caldara on an excellent (and cheap) naxos disc, one of several of Caldara's church music they've produced. Well, I've really enjoyed this disc and don't find either the sound or the performances to be "tiny" (as JW did). This is, after all, a chamber version of the Seasons, with one (original period) instrument to a part and shouldn't sound like a full orchestra. Having said that, the performances aren't ... more |

I am inclined to agree with Nick C about the sound of this disc.
Whearas the performances are fine, the recording makes the soloists sound quite wiry and very glassy and abrasive. This detracts from the enjoyment you can take in the performances.
